INSPIRATION FOR
KUNDALINI SERIES
"Kundalini is the energy of consciousness of our day-to-day dreaming, it is the energy of communication with our bodies, our breath, and with the energies of the world and the people around us." (transpersonal.com).
Associated with kundalini alignment (body, mind, spirit) are seven chakras of the body, visible to some as the aura around a person. Each chakra corresponds with a specific color that is the same as the full spectrum light of rainbows as well as corresponding with the 7 notes of the musical scale.
Each of my Kundalini pieces represents
this full spectrum of energy, color,
and sound. I use multiple layers of the
7 chakra colors plus white--- to represent
full spectrum light. Many of the paintings
are layered with various sanskit or
english words that are associated with the
awakening consciousness of mankind.
My first piece, Kundalini Awakening, was transformed as a heavy downpour
surrounded me in my studio. Before I thought about it, I was pouring water over
the canvas, and the work I had meticulously layered with a specific outcome in mind, starting running down the canvas.
This series was born in a recognition that "control" of anything is an illusion, that the human experience is a messy and wonderful blend of all, and that we are one with all other beings, the planet, and the cosmos---even the rain!
